YOUNG WATER FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM 2019.

The Young Water Fellowship Programme (YWF) empowers young entrepreneurs to lead the solutions to water issues in their communities, by offering them a year of support consisting of training, mentorship and seed-funding for their initiatives.

The YWF 2019-edition will focus on social entrepreneurship. In partnership with cewas, Young Water Solutions will offer 10 young entrepreneurs (‘’Fellows’’) the possibility to participate in Cewas’ Start-up Training Programme. Fellows will also be assigned mentors, get the chance to exponentially increase their supporting networks in the water and entrepreneurship sectors, and apply for seed-funding for the first steps of implementation of their social enterprises.

The proposed initiative should directly contribute to solving at least one of the following issues, in line with SDG 6:
– Lack of safe drinking water supply.
– Lack of adequate sanitation facilities and lack of hygiene.
– Water pollution.
– Water scarcity.
– Solid Waste Management.
– Wastewater management.
– Other water management issues.

Eligible Countries

EGYPT, SYRIA, IRAQ,  JORDAN, LEBANON, TUNISIA, ALGERIA, MOROCCO, SUDAN, LIBYA, DJIBOUTI, MAURITANIA, TURKEY, IRAN.

OTHER COUNTRIES ARE NOT FROM THE MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA.

Program Period

From August 3rd to September 7th 2019 (note that these dates might be subject to change).

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • You are 18 to 30 years old at the time of the application.
  • Be the founder or co-founder of an initiative that contributes to the solution of a well-defined water problem in your country. The initiative should be in its initial stages and have the ability to be turned into a social enterprise (i.e have a long-term sustainability component or business model).
  • Be a resident of this list of low and middle-income countries.
  • Have a valid passport and be available to attend a workshop in Europe from August 3rd to September 7th, 2019 (note that these dates might be subject to change).
  • Be able to communicate in English (an intermediate level at least).

Opportunity Cost

(Partially Funded)

  • All training costs are covered by the organization (flights, transportation in Europe, accommodation, meals), but participants must cover their visa expenses and transport costs to the closest international airport in their country of residency.

Fourth Step: To apply, you will need to record a 2 min. video describing your initiative and the problem it seeks to address and provide us the link to watch it or download it (in YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc) and fill in the questions about your project and yourself. No answer about yourself is right or wrong: what we value the most is honesty in the answers.
