School of Law Postgraduate Fee Awards For Master’s Students-Birkbeck University

Birkbeck is a world-class research and teaching institution, a vibrant centre of academic excellence and London’s only specialist provider of evening higher education – which means students can balance studying with work, family and other commitments. The School of Law at Birkbeck offers this funding opportunities for a maximum of one year for full-time students and two years for part-time students.

The School of Law, Birkbeck houses a large and expanding community. Founded in 1992, the School has grown from 3 members of academic staff to a body of over 30 and a student intake of more than 1000 across two departments – Law and Criminology. The School of Law also houses the Institute for Criminal Policy Research (ICPR) which conducts academically-grounded, policy-oriented research on all aspects of the criminal justice system.

Program Period

One year for full-time students.

Two years for part time students.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • You must be a new student who, ideally, has not studied a taught postgraduate programme before. 
  • You must have at least an upper-second-class honours degree at undergraduate level, or equivalent.
  • You must show the potential to perform strongly on one of the Master’s degrees listed above.
  • You can be a Home, EU or international student and you can be studying full-time or part-time.

Opportunity Cost

(Partially Funded)

  • The awards will cover the cost of fees only at the home/EU rate. Where an award is made to an international student, the student will be liable for the balance of their fees for the duration of their programme of study.
