The alpine 2019 fellowship
The theme of competition is “Identity” On some views, the trajectory of human history is most essentially driven by a struggle for recognition. Recognition means being seen and acknowledged. It requires consciousness of oneself as being a certain way, and a recognition of that self-understanding by something other. It is in and through this process that identity comes to be formed.

There are three categories: writing, visual arts and theatre
the theme for writing and visual arts is “identity”. the topic for theatre is to explore and challenge philosophical ideas using the dramatic form.

(Award)
- Writing : £10,000 cash prize and is presented with the award by the poet John Burnside. £3000 go to the second place, £2000 to the third place.
- Visual arts: Winner receives £2000 and a further £1000 towards shipping and installing the winning piece.
- Theatre: The Winner will be expected to deliver a completed script by May 31st, allowing for casting and rehearsals prior to the reading in Sweden.
