The Algerian Youth Leadership Program
This is a four-week, fully funded, U.S-based cultural exchange program, focused on the primary themes of civic education, youth leadership development, respect for diversity, and community engagement.

The Algerian Youth Leadership Program is a leadership development opportunity for Algerian and American youth, ages 15-17. This cultural exchange will take place in Reno, Nevada and Washington, DC from June 17-July 11, 2019,

For Youth Participant :
- will be at least 15 years old and not more than 17 years old by the start date of the exchange (meaning you are 15, 16 or 17 years old on June 14, 2019)
- have good English skills, sufficient for understanding academic discussion and everyday social interactions
- have at least one year of high school remaining after the program. If you are selected as a semifinalist, you will be required to submit an original high school transcript and a school certificate to verify that you have at least one year of high school remaining.
- have demonstrated leadership in their schools and/or communities
- have interest in program themes
- have permission from their father or legal guardian to participate in the entire program
- are a legal citizen of Algeria
- do not have a familial relation to the Northern Nevada International Center
For Adult mentor Participant :
- Work actively mentoring youth in their professional or volunteer activities
- Are community leaders
- Are legal citizens of Algeria
- Have excellent English skills
- Are committed to working with the Youth Leadership Program participants after their return from the United States and assist in the implementation of community projects
- Have travel experience outside their home state or province (international travel experience is not required). Program staff will travel with you to the U.S.
- Are committed to the goals and ideals of the program, including civic leadership, diversity and fostering regional and global interactions
- Are not employed by and/or do not have a familial relation to the Northern Nevada International Center,

second step:
Video Interview
After the online application deadline (December 30, 2018), your online application will be checked for completeness. If it is found to be complete, we will send an email to the email address that you provided in the online application. This email will contain a link to the video interview application and will indicate your individual video interview deadline. The deadline to complete the video interview will be 10 days from when you receive this email (your personal video interview application deadline will be contained in the email you receive). Please check your email frequently and start the video interview process as soon as possible in case you experience technical difficulties and need support. In the case of technical difficulties, we cannot extend your deadline.
