Malignant brain tumors show a particularly poor prognosis with high morbidity and mortality. The diagnosis of a brain tumor might be assumed based on its clinical history, but proper neuroimaging, especially with contrast-enhanced MRI, is crucial. Recent advances in the treatment of brain tumors have improved patient outcome, but despite all these efforts, brain tumors still remain a clinical challenge. Hence, there is an urgent need for effective therapeutic approaches to improve survival outcomes. Preclinical models can play a critical role for this purpose.
They are looking for a highly motivated PhD student that will perform research on innovative therapeutic strategies in preclinical models for brain tumors based on previously acquired results by our research group. The research will be conducted in collaboration with the Infinity Lab at Ghent University where you will be trained in the basic techniques necessary for the experimental work. The purpose is to obtain a PhD in Health Sciences within a period of 4 years.
