The Banking & Finance Research Team in the Department of Economics at Ghent University (Belgium) is hiring a PhD researcher in the field of Financial Economics for 4 years. The PhD researcher will conduct research in the context of an interdisciplinary four-year strategic basic research project aiming at improving the efficiency of pension saving decisions. The team consists of researchers from actuarial science, data science, (financial) economics and psychology. Together they address the problem of optimal pension savings, optimizing pension saving decisions and understanding actual saving behavior.

Note: Candidates should hold a degree of Master of Science in economics, Master of Science in business economics, Master of Science in business engineering, Master of Science in business administration, Master of Science in mathematics or an equivalent master’s degree, or are about to obtain this degree by the end of the academic year
Note: strong quantitative, modeling and programming skills are important. Next to research skills, also good social skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset is desirable as the project will also involve contacts with stakeholders.
Note: A monthly scholarship of €2.070.
