A scholarship which provides financial support to a commencing student within the Faculty of Law who will undertake the Master of Laws.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

The university Requirements: For law graduates: 

  • A bachelor honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, including human resource management, industrial relations or another relevant discipline, as determined by the faculty, with a minimum credit average.
  • Or a bachelor degree (or equivalent) plus either a graduate diploma (or equivalent) in law or a cognate discipline including human resource management, industrial relations or another relevant discipline or a graduate certificate (or equivalent) in law or a cognate discipline including human resource management, industrial relations or another relevant discipline as determined by the faculty.
  • Or a bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, including human resource management, industrial relations or another relevant discipline plus sufficient relevant work-based experience or professional learning to provide the equivalent of a bachelor honours degree in one of those disciplines, as determined by the faculty

The university Requirements: For non law graduates: 

  • A bachelor Honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, including business, economics, commerce or another relevant discipline, as determined by the faculty, with a minimum credit average.
  • A bachelor degree (or equivalent) plus either a graduate diploma (or equivalent) in Law or a cognate discipline including business, economics, commerce or another relevant discipline or a graduate certificate (or equivalent) in Law or a cognate discipline including business, economics, commerce or another relevant discipline as determined by the faculty.
  • Or, a bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, including business, economics, commerce or another relevant discipline plus sufficient relevant work-based experience or professional learning to provide the equivalent of a bachelor honours degree on one of those disciplines, as determined by the faculty.Applicants will be assessed on their entire academic record, with a credit average (or equivalent) preferred.

Minimum English Language Test requirements:

  • IELTS: 7.0 overall (no band less than 6.5.)
  • TOEFL (paper-based): 587+ TWE 4.5.
  • TOEFL (internet-based)*: 94 + Reading 19, Listening 20, Speaking 20 & Writing 24.
  • Pearson Test of Academic English: 65+ communicative score 58.
  • Cambridge English: 185+ Writing 185 and no skill below 169.

Scholarship Requirements:

  • An International student.
  • Intending to enroll in the Master of Laws full-time as a Monash student, attending the Monash Law City Campus.
  • Achieved in the top 5% of your previous studies or demonstrated outstanding achievement in a combination of your studies and your work based learning.
  • Applicants will be assessed on their entire academic record, with a distinction average (or equivalent) preferred.
  • You will be assessed based on your academic results as well as your personal statement.

To retain this scholarship:

  • You must maintain a credit average (60% or above) each semester.
  • You must maintain a full-time enrolment.

Selection criteria:

  • Award based on academic achievement.
  • Applicants will be assessed on their personal aspiration statement (500 words).

  • $20,000 for one year only.

Note:

  • If your documents are in a language other than English, you must provide certified translated copies. We prefer NAATI qualified translators.
