Liveris Academy Undergraduate Scholarship

The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage and support outstanding students in the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) or in the integrated Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) / Master of Engineering program in any discipline at The University of Queensland, who have the potential to lead solutions to some of the world’s most pressing sustainability challenges.

The Liveris Academy aspires to build a generation of effective and inspiring leaders with a mindset geared towards creating a sustainable future. The Liveris Undergraduate scholarship is maintained by the income generated from an endowed fund.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

An applicant is eligible for the Scholarship, if the applicant:

  • Submits an application by the closing date for applications.
  • The applicant should:
  1. Will complete, or has completed, year 12 in the two year period prior to the year of award and achieves a minimum Australian Tertiary Admission Rank of 99.00 (or equivalent) for their year 12 studies; or
  2. Has completed no more than one semester towards the Approved Program in the year of award.
  • Has not undertaken any tertiary study at Bachelor level or higher prior to enrolling in the Approved Program, other than studies in special university programs designed for secondary school students; and
  • Is enrolled, or intends to enrol full-time in an Approved Program in the year of award, or after an approved deferment of one year.
  • Does not hold another scholarship that the Director considers to be similar.

  • The scholarship value is 10.000$.
  • Recipients may also receive up to $10,000 travel support from the Liveris Academy for approved Gap Semester,
    exchange or internship opportunities

How to Apply

First Step:

You may wish to prepare in advance all documentation required before completing this online form.  ALL applicants must complete ALL steps 1, 2 and 3.

Step 1:

  1. A cover letter – Your cover letter addressed to the Director, Liveris Academy, The University of Queensland.  This is your opportunity to make an impact – include what areas of the engineering profession are of greatest interest to you, any leadership experience, professional interest area, career ambitions, your personal qualities, and how will this scholarship assist you.
  2. A curriculum vitae (resume) of no more than 2 A4 pages. Include details of your skills summary, education, demonstrated leadership skills, personal qualities and any extra-curricular activities / membership ie. community service, engagement, sporting or cultural achievements.
  3. Two letters of recommendation (your references).
  4. A copy of your Year 11, and Year 12 Term 1 report cards.
  5. Please note that First Year students who have already commenced study in Semester 2, 2019 in one of the above programs are not required to provide report cards.

Combine all of the above files and as one pdf file Surname_Liveris.pdf    For example, Smith_Liveris.pdf.

Step 2:
Prepare your short video of up to 2 minutes about “How you believe you can contribute to a future generation of effective and inspiring leaders with a mindset geared towards creating a sustainable future”.   Reminder that if you are using YouTube when you upload to YouTube you need to change the video setting to “Unlisted”.  By changing this setting the video is only visible to those who have the link.  The video will not appear to viewers who visit the Videos tab of the channel page.  It also won’t appear in YouTube search results unless somebody adds it to a public playlist.   Once you have the link paste this into a word document and save as a pdf file Surname_Liveris_Video.pdf   For example, Smith_Liveris_Video.pdf

Step 3:

Prepare your short essay (750 words) on “Why it is important to discover and implement technology driven innovations to address grand challenges related to sustainability in a time of dramatic social, technological, economic and environmental change”.
