The Simon Lee Foundation Scholarship in Historical Keyboard Performance

The Simon Lee Foundation Scholarship will enable a gifted and committed commencing student studying ECU Bachelor of Music in Classical Performance – Instrumental to study all facets of historical keyboard performance. In addition to studying a common core of history and theory, the recipient will follow a specialized performance-based curriculum in most likely their chosen area. Whilst it is envisioned that the successful candidate would come from a background in modern piano, s/he would be required to display a flair for, and/or a keen interest in, historically informed performance practice.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Applied to study in full time WAAPA’s  Bachelor of Music Classical Performance – Instrumental Course.
  • This scholarship is open to individuals who are future and current ECU students.
  • In order to apply for this scholarship you must have a course application in the ECU system.
  • Selection will be based on your:
    • Entry audition.
    • Personal statement.

Opportunity Cost

(Partially Funded)

  • The scholarship is four years in duration, with each year being worth $20,000 ($80,000). A further $20,000 will be allocated in the final two years, to enable travel to study European keyboard.
