Talents Beirut 2019

The sixth edition of Talents Beirut has announced its call for entries. Twenty promising film talents as cinematographers, editors, sound designers and music composers are going to be selected by an international jury to participate at the programme. The programme aims to reinforce Arab artists in their technical and artistic skills.

The accreditation to Talents Beirut allows you to participate in all events at the German Film Week in Beirut except where additional accreditation or an invite is required. Note that attendance at Talents Beirut activities takes precedence over attending screenings.

Program Period

Five days.

The program starts from September 19 till September 23, alongside the German Film Week which starts

Applicants selected for participation will be informed via email around June 17, 2019. Also, the list of selected applicants will be published on the official website.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Participants must work in one of these areas: Cinematography, Editing, Sound design/Score composition.
  • Participants must have directly contributed to at least one short film with a credit in one of the areas mentioned above. Your participation in the film must be documented.
  • Participants must be a residing citizen of one of the eligible countries.
  • Participants must be at least 18 years of age by September 2019.
  • Participants must be fluent in English and Arabic.

Opportunity Cost

(Fully Funded)

The program covers:

  • Travel costs
  • Accommodation fees.
  • Accreditation to the German Film Week in Beirut taking place from September 19-29, 2019, eligible to be provided with a limited amount of tickets for festival screenings.

How to Apply

First Step: Create an account on the official website

Second Step: Fill the online application form.

Third Step: Upload a sample of work that satisfies the following requirements:

For cinematographers: Upload a maximum three minute film sample. The sample has to be uploaded with subtitles and contains two scenes as maximum. Music videos, commercials or show reels will not be accepted. 

For Sound/score composers: Upload a continuous sequence of video up to three minutes maximum.

For Editors: Upload a continuous scene of video up to fifteen minutes maximum. The submitted scene must be one you have edited yourself but not necessarily directed.
