College of Engineering Centenary PhD Scholarship: Sports betting manipulation and athletes’ rights.
Applications are welcome in the broad fields of sports integrity, focussing on one or more of the following topics:
- Sport competition and sports betting manipulation (otherwise referred to as “match-fixing”).
- Athletes’ rights in sports, especially employment rights.

- Candidates should hold or expect to achieve a minimum of an upper second class honours degree (2:1) and/or a master’s degree or equivalent, in a relevant subject (law, sociology, philosophy, politics, history or any combination of these and other social science disciplines),Candidates who possess a postgraduate degree (i.e. MSc / MA) in a related subject area would be particularly welcome.
- Experience of working in the field of sports would be an advantage,Experience of undertaking qualitative research is desirable.

- Applications can be for theoretical or qualitative empirical studies or a combination of both,Proposals that offer an interdisciplinary approach from the social science disciplines (e.g. sociology, law, politics, history) are especially welcome.

The scholarship covers the full cost of tuition fees and an annual stipend for UK/EU candidates but tuition fees only for international candidates.
