The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) in WAter and COastal MAnagement (WACOMA) 2017-2022 promotes academic excellence in a teaching Master Degree Programme that aims at developing common understanding and deepening scientific knowledge in the vital, challenging and continuously evolving field of water and coastal ecosystems.

More Details

The EMJMD WACOMA is specifically addressed to water and coastal hazards and risks and their interrelations with global changes and use of resources. Consistent with the percepts of management sciences, it also concern mitigation and adaptation to changes and it deals with the relevant aspects of a sustainable green and blue economy. The EMJMD WACOMA links natural sciences and societal challenges focusing on biology, geology, management, law and economics, thus being both multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary. It aims at integrating aquatic, environmental and marine sciences into an advanced teaching program, while promoting an exchange of information with a direct involvement of the coastal end users and stakeholders.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • holding a suitable first cycle/undergraduate/bachelor degree*
  • having an excellent and adequate academic and scientific background and personal skills. Please use the Application Form and CV samples (see the downloadable PDF files below and online application).
  • English language proficiency – B2**/***. Please fill in and upload the English Proficiency Statement form (mandatory – download the form below) and attach any relevant certificate and official statement in case of Exemption (mandatory)

Opportunity Cost

(Fully Funded)

  • All students supported by the EMJMD Scholarship will be provided health insurance according to Erasmus+ guidelines. The insurance covers the scholarship holder’s stay at consortium universities as well as the internship/research period, both in Programme and Partner Countries.
  • Contribution to travel and installation: Depending in the country and the distance.
  • Contribution to the participation costs (including insurance coverage): 9,000 € per year.
  • Contribution to subsistence costs: 1,000 € per month (24 months maximum)

Second Step: Applicants will be requested to upload:

  1. copy of Diploma with Official Academic Transcript of Records with Grades, Final mark/grade and Syllabus of previous studies. Diplomas without Transcript of Records, Grades, Final mark/grade and syllabus will not be considered [mandatory]
  2. proof of English language proficiency (use both the English Proficiency Form and attach a certificate and/or an official statement) [mandatory]
  3. CV (preferably use the sample provided) [mandatory]
  4. students Application Form (use form) [mandatory]
  5. copy of Passport (all pages and visa) [mandatory]

  • Applicants will only be contacted at the ( email address that will be given to candidates at the registration phase. Students are advised that any official communication, request for additional documents, assessment results will be only sent to that email address. Students are expected to check their account regularly.
  • The Academic Board may as well request to have an online (Skype) interview with candidates. In case a candidate is invited to sit an interview, the interview will become part of the selection process and will therefore be mandatory.
