Philosophies Allemandes et Françaises: Enjeux Contemporains- Erasmus Mundus Franco-German University

The EuroPhilosophie program recruits on criteria of academic excellence in the field of philosophy. The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master “German and French Philosophies: Contemporary Issues” (PhiAFEC) is the continuation of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master, selected for the first time in 2006 and then in 2011 under the title “German and French Philosophies in the European Area” all of whose activities – educational, scientific, editorial, associative and diplomatic – have been developed under the acronym “EuroPhilosophie”.

The Franco-German University (FGU) is an international organization of universities from Germany and France with the purpose of facilitating international cooperation in higher education. The FGU is not a university in its own right, but rather enables students to study at multiple universities in both countries in a Franco-German course of study, leading to a double degree.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

Each application file is appraised by two rapporteurs from the member universities of the EuroPhilosophie consortium. The marks awarded allow the coordinating office to develop a first ranking which is then used as a basis for the deliberation conducted during the selection committee. The final classification of the files and the awarding of the scholarships is decided at the meeting of the consortium committee.

  • You have obtained or are in the process of obtaining a first degree in higher education (Bachelor / Bachelor) or you can attest that you have obtained or are in the process of obtaining an equivalent degree.
  • You have a university degree in Philosophy and History of Philosophy or in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences, or Arts and Letters,
  • you are fluent in spoken and written German and / or French and ready to commit to the intensive language training offered by the Erasmus Mundus EuroPhilosophie Master’s program to students,
  • you have never obtained an Erasmus Mundus Master’s Scholarship,
  • you are not enrolled in a PhD.

Your application will be evaluated on the following points: general level and quality of diplomas, field of diplomas, research project, motivation, quality of the philosophical text, professional experience, mastery of the French and / or German language, academic experience, letters of recommendation.

Reminder: Candidates from a partner country of Erasmus + who have lived, worked or studied in one of the member countries of the Erasmus + program for a total of 12 months in the last 5 years must APPLY for a scholarship as an student from a member country of the Erasmus + program.

Opportunity Cost

(Fully Funded)

The amount of this scholarship is 43 800 € for two years, distributed as follows:

  • € 1,000 / month of subsistence allowance (for 24 months).
  • € 2,000 or € 3,000 per year to help with transport costs (the amount depends on the distance from the city of residence and the coordinating university).
  • € 12,800 participation fee to the Master (directly deducted from the stock exchange).
