The Master in Renewable Energy in the Marine Environment (REM)- Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree

It is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree (EMJMD) offered by four European universities. These partner universities jointly engage in the overall execution and development of the master. Each center is responsible for the operation of the programme at its own institution. The master is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

The Master provides the student with skills in assessment, analysis, simulation, development and exploitation of all available energy in the marine environment and in project development of safe, efficient and reliable marine energy generation plants, including operation and maintenance design and study of the integration of the plants in the electric system.

Erasmus Mundus scholarships are open to higher education Third Country and European students and academics from all over the world.

Program Period

2 years.

The Programme is a two years masters’ course consisting of 4 semesters of study (120 ECTS), in accordance with the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). Student mobility is compulsory so that each student must undertake the Programme by enrolling at three of the four partner universities (including for completion of a master thesis).

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • An applicant with a mother tongue other than English needs to prove that he/she has sufficient fluency in English. Fluency in English will be established according to the Language Policy.
  • Specific individual requirements will be established for each applicant, according to his/her qualifications/prior learning, selected Modules and expected academic and professional prospects. These individual requirements will be developed by the JPB (through a system of mentor assignment) for pre-registered applicants.
  • The relevance of the BSc degree (or equivalent) of the applicant will be assessed. In cases of doubt regarding the quality of the issuing institution, external advisers will be consulted in order to establish the status and quality of the institution concerned.
  • Students will be selected based on the quality of their degree and an applicant’s grade average from his/her previous study should establish the high qualification level of the applicant and will normally be a grade average of ‘B’ or higher in terms of the ECTS grading scale.
  • An applicant must show evidence of maturity, stability, adaptability, self-discipline and strong academic motivation. This can be achieved by providing a letter setting out the reasons he/she is motivated to participate in the programme. The relevance of work experience and future career objectives, as well as additional information provided by the mentor, will also be taken into consideration by the JPB for reaching a final decision.

Erasmus Mundus scholarship covers tuition fees, participation costs (including insurance coverage), travel cost contribution, installation cost contribution, and a monthly allowance.

  3. Certified copy of the transcript of records of all courses taken to achieve the BSc degree (in English).
  4. Certified copy of the highest degree obtained, stating credits, average grade and workload (in English).
  5. Copy of Language Certificates.
  6. Full curriculum vitae in Europass format (template downloadable HERE).
  7. Letter of motivation to participate in the REM Programme.
  8. Recommendation letters from academic staff members.
  9. Special needs evidence.
  10. Any supplementary information/work that may be considered relevant by the Applicant.
