Excellence Scholarships – Bond University

Excellence Scholarships offer up to 50% tuition remission for either a single or approved combined* undergraduate degree (excluding the Bond Medical Program) and are awarded to students who demonstrate high academic achievement, leadership skills and community involvement.

 – Excellence Scholarships are available to applicants beginning their study at Bond University in the following year, January semester.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

1. Excellence Scholarship:

Students who meet the below criteria may be eligible to apply for an Excellence Scholarship:

  • Domestic and international applicants currently completing or completed* Year 12 at a high school in Australia OR Australian citizens and permanent residents currently completing or completed* Year 12 (or equivalent) outside of Australia.
  • Be predicted to achieve a minimum of OP 5, ATAR 92.00 or IB Diploma 34.
  • Hold demonstrated record of leadership, initiative and service to their School and/or Community.
  • Meet the standard entry requirements for their chosen program of study.

 – *Year 12 completion must not be more than 12 months prior to program commencement and the applicant must not have commenced any post-secondary studies. For example, students who completed Year 12 at the end of 2018, may be eligible to apply for this scholarship to commence in the January 2020 semester.

 – All Excellence Scholars are expected to maintain the level of academic and personal excellence that distinguished them as applicants.

2. Judge John Newton Mooting Scholarships

Bond University is pleased to offer three part-fee scholarships each year to students who have exceptional advocacy skills and a passion for studying law. Applications are open to students who have previously competed in Bond University’s National High School Mooting Competition and are currently completing Year 12 at an Australian High School.

  • Participated in the Bond University High School Mooting Competition.
  • To be considered, applicants must be predicted to achieve a minimum of OP 5, ATAR 92.00 or IB Diploma 34.
  • Currently completing Year 12 at an Australian High School.
  • Demonstrated record of leadership, initiative and service to their School and/or Community.
  • Meet the prerequisites and the admissions entry standards for their chosen undergraduate single or combined degree in Law .

 – All Judge John Newton Mooting Scholars are expected to maintain the level of academic and personal excellence that distinguished them as applicants.

Excellence Scholarships cover up to 50% tuition for any single or approved combined undergraduate degree (excluding the Bond Medical Program).

Judge John Newton Mooting Scholarships cover up to 50% tuition for a Bachelor of Laws or approved combined undergraduate degree including a Bachelor of Laws.

How to Apply

First Step: Applicants will be required to submit the following documents as part of their scholarship application:

Excellence Scholarship

  • A School reference (you will be asked to provide your Career Advisors details as part of the scholarship application form and we will follow-up with them directly to provide a reference).
  • Evidence of your leadership, initiative, and service to your school and/or community, including 2 references. Please use the Summary of Achievements template to present this evidence and upload as one Word or PDF document.
  • Essay responses for the following two questions:
    1. Talk about a problem in the world today that you would like to solve. Why is this important to you and what would you do to fix it? (200-300 words).
    2. An individual’s philosophy of life develops with experience. Describe how furthering your education at Bond University will connect to your philosophy. (200-300 words).

Judge John Newton Mooting Scholarship

  • A School reference (you will be asked to provide your Career Advisors details as part of the scholarship application form and we will follow-up with them directly to provide a reference).
  • Evidence of your leadership, initiative, and service to your school and/or community, including 2 references. Please use the Summary of Achievements template to present this evidence and upload as one Word or PDF document.
  • Copies of certificates from the Bond University National High School Mooting Competition.
  • Personal statement (max 500 words) – Reflect on your participation in the Bond University High School Mooting Competition, and what you have learnt during that process about yourself, about the law, and about advocacy. You should also reflect generally on your interest in the law and legal advocacy.
