AFRICAN WOMEN’S PUBLIC SERVICE FELLOWSHIP

The African Women’s Public Service Fellowship, made possible by a donation from the Oprah Winfrey Foundation, expands the opportunity for African women to impact for public service in their home countries.

More Details

Fellowship recipients commit to return to their respective home countries at the conclusion of the program with the goal of assuming a leadership position on the continent where they can meaningfully contribute to the challenges currently confronting Africa.

Eligible Countries

EGYPT,TUNISIA, ALGERIA, MOROCCO, SUDAN, LIBYA,SOMALIA, DJIBOUTI, MAURITANIA,COMOROS & OTHER COUNTRIES ARE FROM AFRICA.

Program Period

Two years.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Citizen and resident in an African country at the time of application.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Demonstrated commitment to public service.
  • A NYU Wagner education would significantly enhance your ability to have a deep and lasting impact on public service issues in your home country and region.
  • This fellowship is only available to degree-seeking students. Advanced professional certificate and non-degree programs are not applicable for this fellowship.
  • Applicable to the following programs:
    • MPA Public & Nonprofit Management & Policy.
    • MPA Health Policy & Management.
    • Master of Urban Planning.
    • EMPA Public Service Leaders.

Opportunity Cost

(Fully Funded)

The Fellowship provides full tuition, fees, housing, travel to and from the United States, and a small stipend to cover books and miscellaneous expenses.

How to Apply

  • Essay: Describe your reasons, as they relate to your profession, for attending NYU Wagner and pursuing a particular certificate course of study or completing one or more courses on a non-degree basis.
  • Must submit a one-minute video essay.
  • Resume \ CV.

We encourage you to include information about the following additional activities:
Volunteer, public service, political, and/or civic work you have done.
Academic and professional honors, honorary societies, leadership and service awards.
Other professional activities.
Relevant publications.
Extracurricular activities.

  • Uploaded files must be scanned copies of transcript(s) received from the college/university registrar OR electronic transcripts.
    Transcripts must include your full legal name and the name of the college or university attended and Transcripts must show all courses taken, all credits earned, and all grades received.

Second Step: Submit your application.

Note: Transcripts must be written in English. Word documents and HTML documents are not acceptable. An $85 application fee is required to process your application for admission.
