11th VGIK International summer school

Russian State University of Cinematography is calling international students to take part in the 11th VGIK International Summer School. It offers a scholarship within fields of Film Direction and gaining benefits of various shooting-oriented workshops, tutorials, and trainings carried out by widely recognized European and Russian filmmakers.

The program of the VGIK International Summer School consists of one section:

Documentary section takes place in the City of Svetlogorsk (Kaliningrad Region), an old Russian city, well-known for its history, architecture, sceneries, and its cultural heritage.

This year themes:

– The history of the region

– Natural resources

– Cultural heritage

– Health resort and recreation

– Science and education

– The region’s renown people

Program Period

From July 01, 2019 to July 12, 2019

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Future participants of the summer film school should send a trailer for their film created during their studies at their film school, academy, university or links to your work.
  • The trailer sent must be approved by the VGIK Commission and the artistic director of the film school.
  •  The working language of the school is English.

Opportunity Cost

(Partially Funded)

  • VGIK International Summer Film School provides participants with accommodation and food, transportation, and also provides all the necessary shooting equipment for the period of their stay in school.

Note:

  • The VGIK International Summer Film School is Not responsible and does not pay for: air tickets to Russia and back, expenses for obtaining a Russian visa and medical insurance. A Russian visa can only be issued at the Russian consulate in the territory of your country.

How to Apply

First Step: Complete the application form here.

Second Step: Provide the following documents:

1- One photograph copy.

2- Recommendation letter from school or University.

3- A movie trailer shot by you while studying in at your film school, academy, or university with English subtitles or a link to a video.

4- A synopsis of your ideas on the future documentary film to be shot  at VGIK International Summer School (it must correspond with the school slogan).
