EPFL School of Engineering International Summer Fellowship Program

The EPFL Excellence in Engineering Program offers an intensive research training opportunity to students interested in research careers in any field of engineering, science and technology.

More Details

  • E3 is a highly selective program. If selected by a research lab, you will be contacted directly  after the application deadline is closed.
  • You will be joining a research group for a period of 8 to 12 weeks during the summer months. Starting and ending dates are flexible to match the academic calendar of the selected students. They will be discussed during the recruiting process.
  • You will attend a series of group meetings and workshops given by researchers from EPFL and abroad. A dedicated workshop with combined social activity will be devoted to the participants presenting their own summer research results.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

Eligibility:

  • You must be enrolled in a Bachelor or Master program. Students enrolled in PhD programs are not eligible.
  • At the time of application, you should have successfully completed at least your second Bachelor year in any field of engineering, science and technology.

Selection Criteria: Fellowships are awarded on a competitive basis taking into consideration the following criteria:

  • You are among the top 10% of your class with a high GPA
  • You plan to pursue PhD studies. Previous laboratory experience is a plus
  • Your application package should convince the selection committee of your excellence and passion for science. Your statement of purpose reflects your ambition, career goals, and explains your choice of host laboratories.

Opportunity Cost

(Fully Funded)

  • Accepted students will receive a monthly living allowance of 1’600 CHF to cover their housing and living expenses.

How to Apply

First Step:

During the application process, you will have to submit your personal data (name, contact information, etc.) as well as information about your academic background (current position and affiliation, name of university).

Your application file should be composed of the following documents. Please prepare these documents before applying through the online portal:

  • Your curriculum vitæ
  • Your academic transcript, including the most recent
  • A statement of purpose explaining your 3 lab choices (max. 1000 words)
  • Optional Documents: Other documents (one single PDF only) (max 5 MB)

Second Step: If admitted to the program after a first round of selection, you may receive an offer by a faculty member during February 2020. Around March 10th, unless you have been selected by a faculty member, you will receive a mail to inform you that the selection process is closed.
