Al Jalila Foundation established the Al Jalila Foundation Scholarship Program (AJFSP) to support the United Arab Emirates students who have demonstrated commitment to pursue their postgraduate education in medical and health sciences.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Applicant must be a UAE National holding a valid UAE passport and UAE nationality document (Khulasat AlQayd).
  • Applicant must hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in his/her undergraduate degree.
  • Applicant must have obtained his/her undergraduate degree from a local or international academic institution accredited/recognized by CAA-UAE/UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
  • If the applicant is employed, he/she must submit to Al Jalila Foundation a study leave letter from employer with information about the study leave type and duration, and if applicable, salary and benefits provided by employer during the enrolment of the applicant in the postgraduate program.
  • The study leave letter must be submitted along with the rest of the required documents.

 

  • Continuation of the Scholarship Award

The continuation of the scholarship award will be subject to the following being met annually by the:

  1.  Applicant must remain in good academic standing and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale every academic year
  2.  Applicant should not have any disciplinary action taken against him/her for any reason during his/her enrollment in the AJFSP.
  3.  Applicant may not hold another scholarship award in conjunction with Al Jalila Foundation scholarship.
  4.  Applicant may not change the major of the postgraduate study or the academic institution while he/she is enrolled and receiving the Al Jalila Foundation scholarship fund.
  5.   Termination
  6.  The award will be terminated if the accumulative GPA of the student falls below the required standards which is 3.0 on a scale of 4.0
  7. The award will be terminated if, after due enquiry by Al Jalila Foundation, it is evidenced that the student has not carried out the course of study with competence and diligence, or fails to maintain satisfactory progress, or has committed serious misconduct.
  8.  In any of the circumstances set out in the above clauses, the award shall be withdrawn and Al Jalila Foundation shall make no (or no further) payments. In addition, Al Jalila Foundation may further seek to recover any overpaid amounts from the scholarship recipient.

How to Apply

First step:

Harvard application due date: By November 15, 2017, applicant must apply for the Master of Medical Sciences in Global Health Delivery (MMSc-GHD) and submit all required documents (by Harvard) and information to Harvard Medical School

Materials required as part of the application include:

Online MMSc-GHD Application: Please submit all materials through our online application at Here

College/University (school) information: Names of all college/university level schools you have attended and what year you (applicant) completed your studies at that institution.

Transcripts:New in 2017: applicants will upload unofficial transcripts to the online application.

Transcripts must be in English or accompanied by an English translation.

The program will request official transcripts only from admitted students.

Recommendations:Letters of recommendation from three referees. You will email your referee directly from the online application. The referee will complete their letter and upload that letter into the application system.

Personal statement and resume and CV:Applicants will upload a resume/CV and a personal statement which introduces the applicant and states their interest in the program. Generally these personal statements are one to two pages page in length. These will also be uploaded into the online system.

Test scores:Scores for standardized tests  ..The MMSc-GHD program can accept scores from the MCAT, GRE and LSAT. You can upload a copy of these into the online system.

Application fee:New in 2017, all Harvard Medical School Masters programs require a $100 application fee.

More details on standardized tests:

TOEFL scores are not required if you have completed an undergraduate degree or at least 2 years of a graduate degree in an English-speaking environment.

If “no” please request official TOEFL scores.

On the TOEFL, students must score a minimum of 100 (total score, taken within 2 years of application).

On the IELTS, students must score a minimum of 7.5 (taken within 2 years of application).

A low score on the English test may indicate the need for additional training in English prior to entry into the program. There are several schools in the Boston area with intensive English courses that previous MMSc-GHD students have found helpful.

 

Second Step:

AJFSP initial submission due date: By November 30, 2017: Applicant must complete and submit the following by e-mail to Al Jalila Foundation at scholarships@aljalilafoundation.ae :

The application form of Al Jalila Foundation International Scholarship Program .

Evidence of successful application to the Master of Medical Sciences in Global Health Delivery (MMSc-GHD). The evidence could be a reference number generated by the application webpage of Harvard Medical School or a screenshot.
