NILETESOL/RELO FELT CERTIFICATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM – AUC

Are you teaching English or planning to do so in the near future?  Are you interested in developing your skills by adopting the most up-to-date trends in teaching methodology?  Then FELT is the course for you.NileTESOL is pleased to offer its members twenty (20) scholarships to attend the Fundamentals of English Language Teaching (FELT) training program

The training program is offered by the Career Development Department, School of Continuing Education, the American University in Cairo.  This scholarship is funded by a grant from the Regional English Language Office (RELO) at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo and administered by the School of Continuing Education at the American University in Cairo.

Course Description:

  • Language Learning Practice and Theory.
  • Teaching Methods and Classroom Management.
  • Teaching Integrated Skills.
  • Classroom Assessment.
  • Teacher Autonomy.

Program Period

3 months.

  • Duration:  July 14 – September 7, 2019
  • Days:  Either Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays or Fridays and Saturdays (The exact hours will be specified at the beginning of the course.)

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

Candidates should:

  • Be Egyptian citizens.
  • Be university graduates (preferably from the Faculty of Arts, Education or Alsun).
  • Be 22 – 45 years old.
  • Preferably be teaching or planning to teach in the very near future.
  • Have an excellent command of English – oral and written.
  • Have basic computer skills (Windows and Office applications).
  • Have no formal teacher training certificates such as PCTEFLA, CELTA, ITTP, PCELT, FELT-YL, PCT, PED etc.
  • Be able and willing to apply new teaching methods and theories.
  • Provide two references and two signed and sealed letters of recommendation.
  • A minimum score equivalent to B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), Level B2A on SEPT (SCE, AUC’s English placement test).

  • Scholarship covers training fees: LE 5,750 (to be paid out of a grant by RELO).

How to Apply

First Step:

If the minimum score equivalent to B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), Level B2A on SEPT not obtained, you should do the test in the American University.

Testing Fees:

Regular Scheduled Test: LE 175 (For SEPT schedule please mail to sce@aucegypt.edu or sceregis@aucegypt.edu)

One-day service: LE 360

The SEPT fee is to be paid by the applicants and is non-refundable/non-reimbursable.

Second Step:

-Interested applicants should submit the attached FELT application form, duly filled, along with the following documents by June 30, 2019:

  • A scanned copy of the SEPT score
  • A scanned copy of the national identity card.\
  • An updated curriculum vitae (CV)
  • A scanned copy of the university degree
  • A scanned copy of any relevant training certificates
  • An experience certificate from the current employer
  • The attached Citizenship Declaration Form, duly filled and signed
  • Two letters of reference on the referees’ letterhead signed in ink to be sent directly by the referees in sealed envelopes to the following address:
