Forward Bound Scholarships – University of Brighton

The Forward Bound scholarship is available to Health Promotion MSc applicants from low or lower-middle income countries. It is intended to support health and other professionals who are employed or who volunteer in roles where they will be able to influence health promotion practice and policy on their return.

COMOROS, DJIBOUTI, EGYPT, MAURITANIA, MOROCCO, SOMALIA, SUDAN, SYRIA, TUNISIA, PALESTINE, AND OTHER COUNTRIES THAT ARE NOT FROM THE MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA REGION.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

Scholarship requirements:

  • To be eligible for the Forward Bound scholarship, you need to be a Health Promotion MSc applicant from one of the previously mentioned countries.
  • Applicants should normally be a paid health professional. In exceptional cases, applicants whose influence is through non-paid roles – for example, through voluntary agencies or through other health related work – may also be considered.

University entry requirements:

  • Academic requirements: Normally a good UK honours degree or equivalent recognised award from an overseas institution. Candidates with professional qualifications (eg nursing certificate), directly relevant experience, or record of active involvement in civil society organisations will also be considered, although they will need to demonstrate ability to study and write at level 7.
  • English language requirements: IELTS 7.0 overall and a minimum of 6.5 in the other elements, or equivalent qualification.

Opportunity Cost

(Fully or Partially Funded)

  • Up to £25,000 is available each year to allocate to successful candidates – either as full or partial scholarship awards.
  • A full scholarship will fund your course fees, travel costs, accommodation, visa, subsistence and health insurance for 12 months – equivalent to a cost of £25,000.
  • Partial awards will be determined on a case by case basis.
