ESC in VU Museum of Zoology

Volunteer will have a pro – active role, assisting the staff of the Museum team in the individual work of grouping, inventory and data entry to the database of scientific collections. As well the volunteer would carry out individual projects, for example, could create virtual exhibition of selected animal group.

More Details

The help of volunteers is expected in the following fields:
• To be a helper of the scientists in the grouping of scientific material (Vertebrates or Invertebrates).
• Looking after scientific material after primary fixation at the time when they have be to prepared for long-term storage.
• To be a helper of the Museum staff in the inventory, documentation, digitization and data entry to the Museum database and Lithuanian Integral Museum Information System.
• To help create dynamics of occupation of free time activities for visitors of VU Zoological museum, through the realization of games and group work, thematic conversations, practical tasks or projects.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

The applicants:

  • Must be self-motivated, willing to take new challenges
  • Open to working with people of all backgrounds and cultures
  • Must be flexible and self-initiative.
  • Experienced in museum or scientific (biology) or designer-artistic or the media work
  • Ability to manage and solve working tasks in a creative way
  • Enthusiastic to participate in the project
  • Mature to work and to relate to a group of Museum community
  • Willing to develop activities with responsibility

Opportunity Cost

(Partially Funded)

  • The volunteer will be hosted in flat together with other volunteers in Vilnius.
  •  Each volunteer will have their own room.
  • A monthly bus card will be provided.
  • Volunteers will receive food and pocket money every month.
