SEC’88 Scholarship

The Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs in partnership with Dr. Naveed Anwar, Vice President for Knowledge Transfer (former Executive Director of AIT Solutions) initiated this novel scholarship fund together with a group of his batch from class of SEC’88, in order to offer this yearly scholarship for structural engineering master study to an outstanding candidate.

The Asian Institute of Technology is currently accepting applications for the SEC’88 Scholarship in Thailand for the 2020/2021 academic session. The Institute was founded in 1959, is an international organization for higher education in Khlong Luang, Thailand. It specializes in engineering, advanced technologies, sustainable development, and management and planning. Its aim is to “promote technological change and sustainable development” in the Asia-Pacific region, through higher education, research, and outreach.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Any nationality
  • Will study Master’s degree program in the field of Structural Engineering
  • Graduate of Bachelor with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75
  • Official English Score: IELTS writing score of 5.0 or AIT EET Score of 5.5
  • Must fulfill the AIT Admissions Requirements.

(Partially Funded)

  • The group (SEC’88 alumni) will select and advise on the final awardee of the scholarship.
  • The scholarship will be offered to qualifying students, who has been offered 24 credits AIT scholarship based on the qualification but cannot join because of lack of funding.
  • It helps subsidize part of the study cost by covering full, or a portion of, tuition for qualified students while the students are responsible for the rest of the tuition, the registration fees (20,000 Baht per semester to maintain student status) and the living expenses (around 11,500‐15,000 Baht per month).

How to Apply

First Step: When you begin the application process from here, you will be requested to provide a password. This will allow you to return to your file anytime before submitting the application.

Second Step: A non-refundable application processing fee of US$25 (or Baht 800) is required for online applications. If you do not choose on-line payment, you’ll have to fill in the Application Processing Fee Payment Notification Form.

Your application is valid for one year from the first application date. However, an application fee is required for every re-application.

Third Step:Apply through the online form.

Fourth step: If you got accepted you’ll get an offer of admission letter provides details on the study program at AIT, financial conditions and required documents to be submitted. The applicant must confirm acceptance of the offer of admission. Upon confirmation, the AIT Admissions Office will send a Certificate of Admission and Visa Letter to apply for education visa “ED” to be issued only after the applicant has sent back the following documents, duly signed and certified:

  •  Acceptance of Admission
  • Certificate of Health
  • Financial Assurance Form and Financial Acceptance Form
  • In case of admission with scholarship, the Notice of Financial Support Form, as well as other required documents mentioned in the offer letter.
