CRG INTERNATIONAL PHD FELLOWSHIPS PROGRAMME 2021

Description

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, created in December 2000. It is a non-profit foundation funded by the Catalan Government through the Department of Business & Knowledge and the Department of Health, the Spanish Ministry of Science & Innovation, the “la Caixa” Banking Foundation, and includes the participation of Pompeu Fabra University. The mission of the CRG is to discover and advance knowledge for the benefit of society, public health, and economic prosperity.

The CRG is accepting within the CRG International PhD Fellowship Programme, highly talented and motivated students, with backgrounds in biological or biomedical sciences, physics, chemistry, mathematics, and/or computer science who have decided that they want to do a PhD.

In this call, they do offer up to 12 fully funded scholarships for international life sciences PhD students

  • Candidates must have obtained a University Degree and a Masters Degree in biomedical sciences within the European Higher Education System (minimum 300 ECTS) or an equivalent University Degree that allows to start a PhD thesis in the candidate’s home country by October 2021. Note: Candidates who expect to be awarded with such degree by October 2021 are eligible to apply.

  • Candidates must have an excellent academic record, previous research experience and a strong commitment for scientific research.
  • Ineligibility
  • Candidates invited to previous PhD call interviews are not eligible.
  • Master students
  • Candidates performing their Masters at the CRG during the 2020/2021 academic year are not eligible.
  • Work
  • Candidates may not have worked at the CRG for more than 3 months before the call deadline.
  • 2 fellowships through the PROTrEIN
  • 2 fellowships through the PROTrEIN "Innovative Training Network" (herein referred to as ITN Grants) to Sabido lab and to Beltran lab. Candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the call deadline.
  • 1 fellowship through the ROPES
  • 1 fellowship through the ROPES "Innovative Training Network" (herein referred to as ITN Grants) to Novoa lab. Candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the call deadline.
  • 1 fellowship through the circRTrain
  • 1 fellowship through the circRTrain"Innovative Training Network" (herein referred to as ITN Grants) to Irimia lab in a joint project with Sebe-Pedros lab. Candidates must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the call deadline. The starting date of this position is February 1st, 2021.

  • Salary
  • Selected PhD students will receive an annual work contract with a competitive salary that will be renewed annually for a maximum of 4 years ( 3-year contract for ITNs) following the applicable national regulations.

  • All PhD students will receive full health and occupational insurance coverage and will be included in the Spanish Social Security System.

  • Fellows will benefit from an exciting international scientific environment and an integrated training program, including access to state of the art infrastructure, lectures and seminars, specialized scientific and technological courses, complementary skills training and career development activities, postdoctoral symposia and retreats, as well as social activities.
