The plan of this school is to build capacity in Africa amongst scientists and medical practitioners, to be ready for brain health challenges of the future, and to be part of the solution. In this regard, the organizer will be inviting 20 students from across Africa (mainly West Africa). The school is insisting that they be young faculty members and medical residents as they will be in a position to teach others. The organizer will also be investing in mentoring sessions aimed at how young African Scientists can be better trained and remain committed to capacity building in the region through effective scientific collaborations. The practical goal of the school is to have lectures on basic neurocellular anatomy, developmental neurobiology, neural stem cell research, epigenetics of the nervous system, the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases, and neurotherapeutics, with a practical session.
