Join The 2019 Developer Circles Community Challenge

Developer Circles is kicking off the third annual Developer Circles Community Challenge. The goal is to bring together developers from across the globe to build software using React360, Spark AR, or HTML5 Games to give people the power to connect with friends and family, build communities, and grow businesses. Developers are invited to submit software across one of three categories: Productivity and Utility, Gaming and Entertainment, and Social Good.

Located in over 130 cities around the world with a community of over 200,000 developers, Developer Circles from Facebook is a great way for people to join a network of developers to collaborate, learn, and code together. For the 2019 Developer Circles Community Challenge, local Developer Circles will host in-person Build Days, where developers can meet each other, learn about Facebook Developer Products, and build solutions together. Visit the Challenge website to join a Build Day in your city and check back as new dates and cities will be added.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • For the purposes of this Contest, the “Territory” means any country, state, province, territory, region, or jurisdiction where the laws of the United States or local law do not prohibit participating or receiving a prize in the Contest and excludes Quebec, and Crimea, Cuba, Sudan, Iran, North Korea, Syria and any other country designated by the United States Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control.
  • In addition to and without limiting any of the conditions, each Entrant (including all members of a Team Entrant) and any Representative of an Organization Entrant must be a member of Facebook in good standing at the time of entry and throughout the award of the prizes in this Contest.

This Contest is open only to the following:

  • Natural persons who are, as of the date of entry, (i) a legal resident of a country, state, province or territory within the Territory, and (ii) at least eighteen (18) years old and the age of majority in his or her jurisdiction of residence (e.g., country, province, state, prefect, territory, district, etc.) (any and each, an “Individual”).
  • Entities and organizations that are, as of the date of entry and through the time of prize fulfillment, legally formed or recognized by a jurisdiction within the Territory and have a principal place of business in the Territory (any and each, an “Organization”); or
  • An association of not more than ten (10) individuals that does not constitute a legally recognized entity, provided that each natural person comprising such an association is (i) a legal resident of a country, state, or province within the Territory and (ii) at least eighteen (18) years old and the age of majority in his or her jurisdiction of residence (any and each, a “Team”). A Team Entrant may have no fewer than two (2) and no more than ten (10) members.

How to Apply

First Step: Register for the Developer Circles Community Challenge here.

Second Step: Join the Developer Community Challenge Facebook Group here.

Third Step: Join your local Developer Circle to collaborate with other developers.

Fourth Step: Check out the Facebook tools you can build with on the Resources tab.

Fifth Step: Build software applications that falls into any of the three categories (Gaming & Entertainment, Productivity & Utility, or Social Good) and incorporates at least one of the following Facebook Developer products: React360, Spark AR, and HTML5 Games.

Sixth Step: Submit software to your region (North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific, India, Sub Saharan Africa, Middle East/North Africa, Europe) by selecting your region on the submission form.

Seventh Step: Create a video about two minutes long that demonstrates your solution’s features and functionality. (Videos and submission materials must be provided in English for judging. Provide English subtitles or a translation if the content is not in English.).

Eighth Step: Enter your completed submission form before 5pm ET on September 20, 2019 to be considered in the regional round.
