Arab Startup Competition.

The Arab Startup Competition is a yearly competition run by the MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab that pits entrepreneurs in 3 different tracks: Ideas Track, Startups Track and Social Entrepreneurship Track.

The winning entrepreneurs are awarded prizes worth more than USD 160K and benefit from a range of other activities, including top tier training, mentorship, coaching, media exposure, and great networking opportunities.This year’s final award ceremony will be held in Beirut, Lebanon.

Program Period

  • Semifinalists announcement: 14 January 2020.
  • Semifinalists boot camp: For two days on February – March 2020.
  • Conference and award ceremony: APRIL 2020.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Entrepreneurs from all ages may apply.
  • Each team/entrepreneur is allowed one entry.
  • The requirements in the STARTUPS TRACK:
    • Each team should have at least two members.
    • The team should have a working product/service, traction and sales.
    • The startup should be generating revenues.
    • The startup should not have raised funding above 1,500,000 USD.
    • The startup should be legally registered in an Arab country or registered abroad and operating in an Arab country.
    • The startup should be in any Tech or Digital industry.
  • The requirements in the IDEAS TRACK:
    • Each team should have at least two members.
    • Teams are required to have a proof of concept and a prototype
    • Startups should have a validated Business model, with a clear plan on how to grow .
    • Reference/Recommendation from a mentor/industry expert.
    • The ideas should be in any Tech or Digital industry.
  • The requirements in the SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRACK:
    • Each team should have at least two members.
    • The companies should have a working product/service, traction and sales.
    • The startup should be generating revenues.
    • The startup should not have raised funding above 1,500,000 USD.
    • The startup should be legally registered in an Arab country or Registered abroad and operating in an Arab Country.
    • The startup should be in any Tech or Digital industry.
    • Caters to companies whose core product or service addresses a social problem.

Opportunity Cost

  • The winning entrepreneurs are awarded prizes worth more than USD 160K and benefit from a range of other activities, including top tier training, mentorship, coaching, media exposure, and great networking opportunities.
  • The ideas Track are:15,000 USD ,10,000 USD, 5,000 USD.
  • The Startups track and the Social-Entrepreneurship prizes are: 50,000 USD, 10,000 USD, 5,000 USD.
  • MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab will cover the travel expenses for up to 2 members per semifinalist team. The travel expenses covered include flight tickets, accommodation, and transportation from/to the boot camp venue (if needed). MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab does not guarantee to help with the Visas.
  • Participants are expected to pay for their own flight tickets for final event. MIT Enterprise Forum Pan Arab will cover accommodation and ground transportation (to/from hotel/event venue) expenses for up to two members per team. Other team members attending the event can benefit from our special rates.
