Presidents Scholarship 2019

The Presidents Scholarship is unique to Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at University of Strathclyde as we are the only UK MAE Department to have had five past Presidents of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

To recognize academic achievement and to attract the best engineering students from around the world, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering is offering a number of Presidents Scholarships for international students.

ALL WORLD COUNTRIES (non-EU students).

Program Period

12 months.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Students are normally at least 20 years old
  • Degree in engineering or physical sciences or equivalent professional qualification. Preferably a first a second class honours degree, equivalent to a UK 2:1 degree.  A 2:2 may be considered with relevant industrial experience.
  • IELTS – minimum overall band score of 6.5 (no individual test score below 5.5
  • Recognized first degree in the related field. check your country from here

Opportunity Cost

(Partially Funded)

  • The value of each award is £2,000 and shall be a contribution towards tuition fees.  The Presidents Scholarships are open to all well-qualified international applicants joining the one year full-time postgraduate MSc programs in session 2019/20.

Document checklist

Your application may be delayed if you fail to provide the following documents (where appropriate):

  • certified copies of qualifications you’ve gained, eg degree certificate and transcripts (showing the subjects taken and your grades). If you’re still studying, provide a transcript of your results so far
  • if your qualifications are in a language other than English, please provide official translations in addition to the copies of the original documents
  • if English is not your first language, please provide a suitable English language test certificate (if appropriate), for example IELTS
  • a copy of your passport (if you are a non EU overseas applicant). Your passport is required in order to obtain your Certificate of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) statement which allows you to apply for your Tier 4 visa to study
  • a copy of your sponsor letter/scholarship award (if appropriate/available)
  • copies of any other documentation to support your application such as a CV, Personal Statement, Portfolio (for certain programmes)
