The University of Edinburgh will offer a number of scholarships for online learning Masters programmes for the academic year 2019-2020. Edinburgh Surgery Online offers a number of specialist postgraduate courses, designed to accommodate any other study or employment commitments.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • The scholarships will be awarded to applicants who are accepted for admission on to the MSc Surgical Sciences (Online Learning) and ChM (Online Learning) General Surgery, Urology, Trauma & Orthopaedics, Vascular & Endovascular.
  • Applicants must be resident in a country listed in the World Bank list of low income /lower middle income countries.

  • Each scholarship will cover full tuition fees with consideration being given to a contribution towards the cost of internet access.

How to Apply

First Step: Complete a EUCLID application. Applications are made online and scans of supporting documentation will be required. Required documents –  all programmes:

  • Basic Medical Degree
     (MBChB or equivalent), as recognized by the General Medical Council.
  • Final Degree Transcript for your basic medical degree.
  • Details of one referee.
    This is an academic reference and therefore the following points should be addressed:

    • Title and position of referee
    • How long they have known you and in what capacity
    • Their opinion of your ability to manage the study required on this programme
    • Any additional information they feel is useful
  • A personal statement
    confirming you are continuing your learning in a supervised clinical environment.  Please ensure that you address these points directly in your personal statement:

    • Your level of training
    • Current employment
    • Other study commitments – you should not be undertaking any other postgraduate courses
  • Evidence of English language.
    If you are not from an English speaking country (as defined by UK Visas & Immigration), you will need to provide evidence of your proficiency, such as an IELTS or TOFEL certificate.  Any language qualification test must be dated within two years of the start date of the programme and meet the minimum required score.  Details on Postgraduate requirement can be found here

Second Step: If eligible to join the course, you will be given a conditional offer, which you must accept.

Third Step: Complete the online application form for an Edinburgh Surgery Online Global Scholarship

Note: If your application for the scholarship is successful and an IELTS exam is required to complete your EUCLID application, the cost will be met by the University of Edinburgh.

Fourth Step: If the University’s criteria for English Language is met, you will be issued with an unconditional offer, which must also be accepted.
