The Centre for Human Rights, Multiculturalism, and Migration (CHRM2) is a research centre established in 2016 with the ultimate aim to develop multidisciplinary studies at the University of Jember.

Program Period

Minimum three (3) months
With options to extend position for one (1) year.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Undergraduate or master’s degree (or work equivalent).
  • Academic or work history demonstrating an interest in human rights, multiculturalism, and/or migration.
  • Fluency in English (should provide evidence of English writing skills. TOEFL/IELTS scores not required but can be a means of proof).
  • For international applicants, Indonesian language is not required but is a plus (opportunities for language classes at the University of Jember).

Opportunity Cost

(Partially Funded)

Funding covers:

  • Free accommodation.
  • Aid in arranging the visa.
  • Monthly living stipend.
  • City bicycle for local transportation.
  • Cultural experiences (weekend trips around East Java, Indonesia).

Not included:

  • International Flights.
  • Visa costs.

  • Short Personal Statement (written in English), maximum 500 words, and should reflect your desire to work at CHRM2 and your position interest.
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency for non-Native Speakers (Official test scores or short writing sample).
