Postdoctor in Chemical Biology-Department of Experimental Medical Science

The Postdoctor will essentially carry out research at Lund University. The primary focus will be analyzing self-organized therapeutics targeting CNS/PNS in animal models, preferentially in zebrafish, but also in other models e.g., insects (locust) and organoids.

The Chemical Biology & Therapeutics is a multidisciplinary team at Lund University and University of Gothenburg that explore new therapeutic strategies using organic/medicinal chemistry, in-vivo/in-vitro biology, and applied physics.The lab was recently awarded funding for studying in-vivo assembled therapeutics and for an Electronic Neuropharma project (e-NeuroPharma), aiming to address CNS disorders by self-assembled therapeutics.In the e-Neuropharma effort, will develop self-organizing molecular systems that exert both pharmaceutical activity and electrical functionality to explore new therapeutics for neurodegenerative diseases.The latter is a collaboration with the organic bioelectronic team at Linköping University.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • PhD degree in biology, neuroscience or corresponding Documented practical experience in electrophysiology, preferably use of microelectrodes in vitro, in vivo, or both Practical experience in zebrafish dissection, microinjections and fluorescence microscopy
  •  someone who is not afraid of diverse work assignments and at the same time is an expert, the main driver, and knowledge sharer within their own field of expertise.
  • The postdoctor must be able to work independently,
  • have excellent communication skills and have the ability to collaborate with people.
  • Research at the Chemical Biology & Therapeutics Laboratory and collaborators is carried out predominantly in English.
  • Excellent English (speaking, writing) is therefore a requirement for the position.
  • Practical experience in experimental zebrafish studies Practical experience in immunofluorescence and other fluorescent biomarkers Good knowledge of neurobiology (preferably fish neuroanatomy) and general fish anatomy
