The University of Copenhagen- Postdoctoral fellowships in paleogenomics, Department of Biology

The Lundbeck Foundation GeoGenetics Centre (LFGGC) offers a busy and stimulating working environment, with a high degree of flexibility and a strong tradition for collaboration. They are employing two qualified, highly-motivated, and committed full-time postdocs for 3 years from 1 July 2019.

Over the next few years, they are posed to generate the largest ancient genome panel so far produced. We will sequence thousands of genomes from across Western Eurasia, spanning a period of 10,000 years. We will use them to investigate demographic changes over time, patterns of selection in genes, pathways, & biological functions, and to trace the paleo-epidemiology of ancient pathogens that affected populations in the past.
Job description 
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Preparation of ancient sample material for ancient DNA analysis.
  • Participation in the extraction of ancient DNA and library preparation using manual and automated procedures.
  • Participation in the daily operation of the ancient DNA clean laboratory facility.
  • Ad hoc participation in the scientific activities and meetings of the group.
  • Working on a more independent research project(s).

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

Opportunity Cost

(Paid)

  • The starting salary is currently DKK 430,570  including annual supplement (+ pension up to DKK 73,627).
  • Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
