Program Period

APPLICATION PHASE: 3 October 2019 – 30 January 2020

PRE-SCREENING + MENTORSHIP + REGIONAL FINALS: 31 January – 26 March 2020

FINALS PREPARATION: April – May 2020

GLOBAL FINALS: 3-4 June 2020

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Studying Engineering, Business, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics and other Sciences
  • Location: worldwide (Team members must be studying in the same Region for the duration of the competition.)
  • At least one team member must be a woman, in line with their Diversity & Inclusion philosophy.
  • Be proficient in English (the Grand Finale pitch will be presented in English.)
  • Only university students eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of submission of the Initial Application are permitted to submit their proposals.
  • Students worldwide must be registered in a bachelor’s (at least the 2nd year), master’s or MBA program of business or engineering are eligible to compete in the Contest.

  • Trip to Boston – visit Schneider Innovation HUB + Personalized MIT and Greentown lab tour
  • Selected teams will be invited to a fully sponsored trip to the Schneider Electric Innovation Summit in Las Vegas to pitch for the Grand Prize
  • Participants will receive mentorship from Schneider Electric experts to polish their proposals and make it to the Grand Finale!
  • One all-female team from the semi-finals will win the Women in Energy Award, securing a place in the finals and cash prize of USD $1,000.

Third Step: You must register for the competition as an individual. However, to submit a full application you must also register as a team of two. Accepted formats for the initial application:

Text description: .doc or .pdf format, max. 500 words, 12-size Arial or Times New Roman font, file size max. 15 MB
Infographic: .ppt or .pdf format, max. 4 slides/pages including 1 cover slide, file size max. 15 MB
Make sure to clearly state your objectives and original ideas for a solution to any of the world’s energy problems, or one of the Schneider Electric’s four business case challenges. Be creative! Do not submit ideas that are not your own.
Notes:
  • Initial Applications must be submitted online in plain English.
  • Each team will have the chance to pitch their bold idea in a 15-minute presentation followed by 5 minutes of Q&A with the jury made up Schneider Electric’s senior management
