Description

controlling hybrid systems- PHD scholarship.

As a part of Professor Alan Rowan’s ARC Laureate fellowship, the main objective of this project will be to understand how the material properties of biopolymers (collagen, fibrin, etc.) are modified by the presence of synthetic hydrogels with the aim of providing strain-stiffening, tuneable, hybrid biomaterials for controlled cell growth.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • You must be International and domestic graduates of high scholarly calibre as evidenced by a high Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • You must have  a First Class Honours degree, Masters degree or equivalent. Past research publication output is desirable.
  • You should have a background in polymer/materials chemistry or bioengineering/biophysics. Previous experience with live cells and tissue culture will be a plus.
  • You must have A bachelor’s degree with at least honours class IIA or equivalent from approved universities.or you must have A research master’s degree, A coursework master’s degree and an overall GPA (grade point average) equivalent to 5.65 on the 7-point UQ scale.
  • You must be a postgraduate degree of at least one year full-time equivalent with an overall GPA (grade point average) equivalent to 5.0 on the 7-point UQ scale, together with demonstrated research experience equivalent to honours IIA will be considered for PhD entry .on a case by case basis
  • Students must demonstrate that their current level of English language proficiency meets the University’s English proficiency policy.

Opportunity Cost

  • $28,092 per annum tax free (2020 rate), indexed annually.
  • Living stipend.
