Exposé-Scholarship-Leibniz University

The Graduate Academy financially supports graduates in their process of planning a doctorate with funding to elaborate a detailed research concept for a Ph.D. project. With a scholarship of 1,000 € per month (for up to six months) Ph.D. candidates are given the opportunity to carry out first research and to work out a dissertation proposal. The aim of this six-month scholarship is to secure further funding for the Ph.D. thesis.

Graduates and students on the verge of completing their degrees who are willing to earn a doctorate at Leibniz University Hannover can apply for this funding. Each application must include a letter of commitment from a university professor who is willing to supervise the Ph.D. thesis of the candidate and who provides the necessary working conditions.

The selection criteria will include the academic qualification for earning a doctorate as well as the innovation potential and the general practicability of the Ph.D. project.

  • Signaling at the Plant-Soil Interface.
  • Virtual Materials and Structures and their Validation.
  • Analysis, Geometry and String Theory.
  • Fundamentals and Applications of Ultra-cold Matters.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Graduates or students in their final stage who are planning a doctorate at Leibniz Universität
  •  Additional employment is possible up to 450 Euros per month. Parental allowance (Elterngeld) is not considered as income.

Selection criteria will include:

  • Academic qualification for earning a doctorate.
  • Innovation potential of the research idea.
  • Practicability of the PhD project.
  • Clear goal to obtain further funding.
  • Personal circumstances (e.g. social hardships) can be taken into account.

  • 1,250 Euros per months up to six months.

First Step: Fill the online application.

  • Completed application form.
  • Higher education diploma.
  • CV and und academic development.
  • Notification by the faculty of admission as a doctoral student.
  • Confirmation of matriculation or respective authoritative statement of the university´s registration office.
  • Description of the PhD project (three pages at the most).
  • Detailed work schedule and timetable for the duration of the financing period (one page at the most).
  • Work schedule and timetable for the overall PhD project (one page at the most).
  • Letter of recommendation of the (future) main supervisor (to be submitted separately).
  • Letter of recommendation of a further university professor/teacher (to be submitted separately.
