The successful applicant will develop the framework for data reduction of the new scientific instrumentation for ground-based solar observatories built and operated by MPS. The successful applicant is expected to publish the methodology of the software tools in peer-reviewed journals, and to contribute significantly to scientific publications arising from the application of these tools.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Hold a Ph.D. in computer science.
  • Have an experience in astrophysical data analysis, especially in the field of solar physics.
  • A profound knowledge in linear algebra and its efficient software implementation involving massively parallelized programming techniques in C and C++ is expected.
  • Familiarity with processing large amounts of data and GPU programming is highly beneficial.
  • Should have a research and publication record in astrophysical topics.

Salary will be according to E13 of the TVöD scale of the German public services.

  • So at E13 Level 1 at a 100% employment you will start with 3657.34/month gross income. (Net income will be somewhere slightly above 2000€, depending on taxes).
