Dean’s Global Research Scholarship

These scholarships, for new international applicants and current international students, will help to cover the difference between the tuition fee for a UK/EU postgraduate research student, and that chargeable to an overseas postgraduate research student. The awards will apply for each year of study for up to 3 years.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • New Students
    • an excellent academic record: preferred first-class degree (students with a 2.1 or equivalent in their undergraduate degree may apply), and/or a master’s degree with distinction, and/or evidence of equivalent achievement.
    • strong research potential (evidenced by the research proposal and academic references).
  • Current International Students
    • they are self-funded.
    • they meet the academic criteria applied to external applicants: an excellent academic record – preferred first-class degree (students with a 2.1 or equivalent in their undergraduate degree may apply), and/or a master’s degree with distinction, and/or evidence of equivalent achievement.

How to Apply

New Students

First Step: Following a successful application process via our online portal (academic offer accepted) students can apply for the funding if they are self-funded. These scholarships cannot be combined with another university award.

Second Step: Candidates should submit a brief statement (200-300 words) to hass-scholarship@strath.ac.uk by the closing date listed below. The statement should explain why they wish to apply for the award and explain their suitability, with reference to the published academic criteria. They should state that their prospective supervisors support their application, and copy the email to their supervisors’ Strathclyde email addresses.

Current International Students

First Step: Candidates should submit a brief statement (200-300 words) to hass-scholarship@strath.ac.uk by the closing date stated below. The statement should explain why they wish to apply for the award and explain their suitability, with reference to the published academic criteria.

Second Step: Candidates should ask their first supervisor to submit a supporting statement (200-300 words) to hass-scholarship@strath.ac.uk by the closing date. The statement should confirm that the candidate has strong research potential as evidenced by their current progress, which must include a recent successful annual or interim review.
