Shirin Fozdar Scholarship

Established in 2016 and one of the initiatives of the Shirin Fozdar Programme (SFP), the Scholarship is available to full-time female undergraduates at the Singapore Management University. The objective of the Scholarship is to recognise outstanding female undergraduates of foreign nationalities and to support them in their education at the University.

Applications are being accepted for the Shirin Fozdar Scholarship from the best and brilliant aspirants. This award is provided by the Singapore Management University for the academic year 2020/21.

Interviews and essay writing tests for Law shortlisted applicants will be conducted in end-March to April 2020.

Notification of Application Outcome (By Email) February – July 2020.

Matriculation June – July 2020.

Orientation Programmes June – August 2020.

Classes start 17 August 2020.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Full-time female foreign undergraduates enrolled in any degree programme
  • Good academic results
  • Demonstrated financial needs (gross monthly household per capita income not exceeding $1,900)
  • Demonstrated leadership potential
  • Active CCA and/or community service involvement (including SFP-funded C4SR projects)

Opportunity Cost

(Partially Funded)

  • Each award is valued at $15,000 and tenable for the recipient’s one year of study.
  • The award will offer financial support towards the recipient’s annual subsidised tuition fee.  The recipient may be in concurrent receipt of a bursary for cash allowance, subject to fulfilment of its eligibility criteria.
  • The recipients are required to be actively involved in community outreach activities and events under the Shirin Fozdar Programme in the year of award, for up to 30 hours of service.

Third Step: Complete and submit the online application, including:

  • your short answer and 250-word personal essay and 250-word essay about your reasons for applying to SMU.
  • Request official transcripts from all high schools or colleges you have attended be sent to SMU.
  • Confirm that your Teacher Recommendation (optional) has been sent to SMU.
  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree and work experience.
  • Extracurricular resume
  • Good GRE or GMAT scores
  • Good TOEFL or IELTS scores (minimum TOEFL score of 550 (80 computer test) or an IELTS test of 6.5 or higher. SMU’s TOEFL and IELTS School Code is 6660).
  • SAT or ACT test scores (For ACT scores, our school code is 4174; for SAT scores, our code is 6660), not required but international students graduating from a U.S. high school, must submit either an SAT score or an ACT score.
  • Copy of Passport
