Inkitt is the world’s first reader-powered book publisher using an algorithm to predict future bestsellers. Inkitt offers an online platform where authors can post their manuscripts, readers can read them for free for a limited amount of time and authors with well-performing books are offered a publishing deal. Inkitt’s proprietary algorithm analyses reading behavior of users to predict the potential of novels.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • The word count should be between approximately 5,000 and 10,000 words.
  • Winning authors cannot enter the contest more than once with the same short story.
  • Likes will be reset at the end of the month so we can decide our winners, and ensure contest entries are fair for all.
  • We will collect data on your submission from the day you join until the contest’s end date.
  • Contests are not genre-specific, but fan-fiction will not be accepted.
  • You may submit multiple entries over multiple months.
  • You must own the rights to your short story.
  • Previously or currently self-published books are accepted.
  • You retain all rights to your stories while posted on Inkitt.

Opportunity Cost


  • 1st Prize: $150 cash, a badge for your book cover and a feature on all of Inkitt’s social media pages!
  • 2nd Prize: $50 cash prize.
  • 3rd Prize: $30 cash prize.

How to Apply

Third Step: Click on “Upload manuscript” to upload your Novel as Word File.
