CIAT KOICA fellowship program

The KOICA Scholarship Program (SP), is the master’s degree course designed to offer future leaders in developing countries unique opportunities to learn Korea’s development experiences and to know the best practices and help develop their professional and academic skills; so they can contribute to the socio-economic development of their home countries

More Details

  • Since started in 1997, the SP has produced over 3,400 graduates of over 80 different nationalities. In partnership with leading universities in Korea, KOICA offers master’s programs (seventeen months long) in such fields as economics, trade, gender equality, rural development, and more
  • The SP targets government officials from KOICA’s partner countries, and about 400 students are selected for this program every year.Partner institutions include Hallym university, Korean Development Institute (KDI), HangDong University, Korea National University, KAIST, and others
  • Applicants have to apply through KOICA regional office or Korean Embassy at specified time periods
    KOICA headquarters or University does not accept any application submitted by individuals

Program Period

17 months (August 2020- December/January 2021, According to the program)

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Be a citizen of the Scholarship Program target country
  • Has a nomination letter from an official governmental institution and accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to which the nominee belongs
  • Have a completed bachelor degree or an equivalent to college/university level educational background
  • Be a government employee with a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of study (private sector employees can apply to the social economies program only)
  • Be in good health, both physically and mentally
  • Have a good command of both spoken and written English
  • Able to meet the other qualifications from university you will apply to (refer to the Program Information)
  • An applicant who has participated in KOICA’s scholarship program or any of the Korean Government’s Scholarship Program before (Master’s degree program), or an applicant who withdrawn from KOICA scholarship before cannot apply to the scholarship
