About program

Preparing students for direct entry to a range of postgraduate degrees, including Business Management, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Economics, International Business Economics, International Development, International Relations and Education, at UEA.

Class duration

For the standard programme:

  • English classes per week: 8 hours
  • Subject module classes per week: 11-13 hours
  • Average total per week: 19-21 hours

Classes are held Monday to Friday between 8.30am-6.30pm, excluding bank holidays.

Class size

  • Maximum class size for English language teaching: 17

  • International Graduate Diploma in Higher Education (FHEQ Level 6) from UEA.

1 Semester: IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.0 in all subskills) or equivalent *Please note that to progress to the Master’s courses below these higher requirements apply: MA Mathematics Education MA Second Language Education MSc Education Leadership and Management IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in all subskills) or equivalent.

Academic requirements

Pass in an undergraduate degree in any academic subject or Diploma (3-5 years) with high grades in any academic subject. Applicants aiming for an advanced MSc at Norwich Business School: A degree in a business or numerical-related subject area. Students intending to progress to MA Development Economics or MSc Impact Evaluation for International Development: A background in economics and a conditional offer from the School of International Development prior to entry to the International Graduate Diploma programme. Students intending to progress to MA in Maths Education: Some background in mathematics required.

Modules

A total of 120 credits must be earnt to successfully complete the pathway programme.

Semester 1 modules – Credit value

  • English Language and Study Skills – 0 Credits
  • Quantitative Analysis- 10 Credits
  • Applied Research Skills – 30 Credits

Semester 1 specialist modules

  • Core Business – 20 Credits
  • Issues in Economics – 20 Credits
  • Entrepreneurship – 30 Credits
  • Introduction to Research – 10 Credits
  • Global Issues and Development – 20 Credits
  • Social and Cultural Studies – 20 Credits

* These courses are generally delivered through the INTO Center and are for Pathway students only.

Depending on the route you take (Business and Economics or Social Sciences), you will typically complete a specific set of specialist modules.

Additional requirements

– Age requirement: 18
– Please note that in addition to the UKVI IELTS, INTO is able to accept other English language qualifications.
