Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • University is looking for bright candidates from anywhere in the world who are passionate about thinking, learning and communicating. All applicants must fulfill our standard academic criteria.
  • Wanted: Dedicated students, collaborators, believers, dreamers, self-starters, community service leaders and students looking to become the leaders of tomorrow.
  • University requires applicants to be working at, or have obtained, a 2:1 (or equivalent) in their degree programme. Please contact us for advice, indicating the country in which you are studying and the name and level of your current qualification. We may consider qualifications which are different to those below on a case-by-case basis.
  • If you have not studied at university, or do not meet our academic requirements, contact find out if we are able to consider your application based on other criteria.
  • All classes are taught and assessed in English, except in ancient language modules. All applicants must have studied English to at least level C1 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) OR offer one of the below:

    If your first language is not English or the medium of instruction at your university is not English, please provide evidence of your English proficiency from the list below or contact for advice, stating the name and level of your current qualification:

    – IELTS – 6.5 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 6.0 in each skill.
    – TOEFL Internet Based Test – 93 with minimum 20 in all skills (within the last 2 years)
    – TOEFL Paper-based test – 583 with minimum 53 in all skills (within the last two years)

How to Apply

First Step: 

To apply for a Summer School programme at King’s you will need to first register an account at the link.

Second Step:

Once registered you can then complete our online application form. If you are unable to
access the online application form, please email the Summer Programmes office at for advice.
Please ensure that you submit all relevant documentation with your online application where possible; please review
the guidance notes for this information.

Third Step:

Include the statement “I am applying for a Summer@King’s scholarship” at the top of the Personal Statement section of the application.

Fourth Step:

Create a video (no longer than 2 minutes and 30 seconds) of yourself answering the following question: “Why does London matter to the world in 2019?”.
You can approach this question in a number of different ways, considering a range of themes, and you may also wish to reflect on the question from the perspective of your particular subject area.

Upload the video to Dropbox and add the Dropbox link to the top of your personal statement.
IMPORTANT: Video should be in one of the following formats: .mov or .mp4 or .avi or .wmv.
