UNESCO’s Workshop on Indicators of Information Preservation Sustainability

The UNESCO Regional Multisectoral Office for West Africa-Sahel, through the Communication and Information Programme, is organizing an experts’ workshop to develop indicators to monitor the sustainability of information preservation.

The workshop seeks to:

  • Map and analyze existing indicators and monitoring tools related to information and documentary heritage preservation, to select potential indicators of information preservation sustainability;
  • Define a set of indicators applicable to monitoring or measuring the sustainability of information preservation.

Opportunity Focus Areas:

  • Information and Communication Technologies.
  • Statistics. (especially the preservation of documentary heritage and digital heritage.)
  • Computer Science.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • Participation is open to all women and men specialists in the fields of information and communication technologies, statistics and especially the preservation of documentary heritage and digital heritage.
  • Participants can come from memory institutions (archives, libraries, museums, etc.), statistical institutions, universities and research centers.

Opportunity Cost

(Partially Funded)

  • For people coming from countries other than Senegal, and based in Africa, the possibilities for UNESCO to provide support for transportation and accommodation are very limited. Therefore, supported participants will be selected based on a number of criteria including gender equality, diversity of expertise, etc. on a first come, first serve basis.
