Law Scholarships for International Students – Undergraduate

The School of Law at the University of Queensland(UQ) is offering scholarships for outstanding international students seeking admission into either the undergraduate Bachelor of Laws or the dual degree programs. High achieving students are encouraged to apply. These competitive scholarships are awarded to outstanding international students on the basis of academic excellence and interest in a career in law.

The University of Queensland (UQ) is a public research university primarily located in Brisbane, Australia. Founded in 1909 by the state parliament, UQ is Australia’s fifth oldest university. UQ is considered one of Australia’s leading universities and is ranked as one of the most reputable in the world. The purpose of the Scholarship is to encourage and support academic excellence in international students commencing undergraduate study in Law at the University of Queensland.

Program Period

4 Years.

Eligibility Requirements (Criteria)

  • The scholarship is for international students who have applied for the undergraduate program in law and who have not yet commenced at UQ.
  • The recipient is subject to maintaining enrollment in the Approved Program.
  • The recipient is subject to achieving a minimum GPA of at least 4.5 in the courses.
  • Students must not simultaneously hold a similar scholarship.

Opportunity Cost

(Partially Funded)

Two scholarships are on offer:

  • A scholarship covering 25% of the tuition fees, for LAWS courses undertaken towards the approved law program
  • A scholarship will cover 50% of the tuition fees, for LAWS courses undertaken towards the approved law program.

Note: The scholarships do not include living expenses, travel expenses, overseas health cover or the Student Services and Amenities Fee.

How to Apply

Note: Students will need to make a separate application to UQ International Admissions into the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) or dual degree programs.

First Step: complete an application for a place at UQ.

Second Step: Once you have an existing application with UQ or have received an offer you can apply for a scholarship by completing an application form together with the following supporting documentation to

  • Official academic transcript/s
  • A personal statement outlining why you want a career in law
  • Two reference letters
  • Evidence of English proficiency (e.g. IELTS)
  • Resume/CV.

Note: The award of the scholarship is conditional upon the student enrolling in an approved program at the University of Queensland.
