Teaching and learning are our priorities at DePaul. That might seem obvious, but we’re the largest private university whose faculty members’ priority is teaching. We’re also the nation’s largest Catholic university — and we’re committed to an educational experience that weaves together mind, place, people and heart.
DePaul University is a well-respected and academically challenging university with a focus on inclusivity, personalism, and professionalism. Here is a place where equal importance is placed on community spirit and individual student success – ensuring you gain the confidence to find your place in this innovative city.
ACADEMICREPUTATION: DePaul University is ranked #124 in the USA (US News and World Report, 2021) with programs holding top national rankings in several fields.
LEARNINGCOMMUNITY: Live and study in Chicago, the third largest city in the USA. Learn from experienced instructors who will support you throughout your studies.
CAREERFOCUS: Access internship and real-world training opportunities in Chicago. More than 450 organizations actively recruit DePaul students on campus each year.
Academic Excellence DePaul has more than 300 undergraduate majors and graduate programs, so chances are good we have what you’re looking for. Many of our professors work in Chicago as consultants, researchers and entrepreneurs, and incorporate their experiences in the classroom.
In the Heart of Chicago: DePaul has one campus in Chicago’s business district and another in Lincoln Park. Chicago itself is an ideal classroom — and we take full advantage of it.
Professors Who Focus on You: You’ll actually get to know your professors — 97 percent of all classes are taught by faculty members, not teaching assistants.
Distinctively Diverse: Everyone isn’t the same here. And that’s good. By nurturing diversity and intentionally incorporating multiple viewpoints into academic and student life, you’ll have a learning experience that better reflects — and prepares you for — the world.
Our students come from 49 states and 136 countries

The academic mission of DePaul University is to serve as an incubator and repository of knowledge and to transfer that knowledge between faculty and student as well as between university and society. Fulfilling that mission places research at the center of university life. Elevating academic excellence through research and creative activities is a primary goal in our strategic plan Grounded in Mission: The DePaul Plan for 2024.
DePaul’s research and innovation ecosystem encourages faculty to apply their research to real-world problems in the communities we serve. The University provides several resources through university- and college-wide funding programs. The result is a vibrant scholarly community that contributes to learning and scholarship, influences Chicago communities, and impacts the world. The ecosystem transcends both externally and internally. DePaul promotes faculty research work as public intellectuals, and its teacher-scholar model allows faculty to bring cutting-edge and societally impactful ideas and projects into their classrooms and empower students with the state-of-the-art.
DePaul envisions research and creative activities as essential for growth. We use research accomplishments to break ranks in emerging areas and maintain our ranking in existing areas. We continue to attract both world-class faculty and students who then contribute to scholarly and creative activities. DePaul continues to acknowledge the value of diverse learning experiences across disciplines, which are not only possible but also strengthened through active interdisciplinary collaborations. DePaul’s strategic plan aims to continue using the University and college-level structures to push forward an ecosystem that builds a better future for all.
At the DePaul University Career Center, we believe the path to your successful future starts with you. By helping you understand and shape your passions, interests and skills, we connect you with majors, internships, jobs and opportunities so that you can take on Chicago—and the world—with vigor, knowledge and preparation.
The DePaul Career Center helps students build confidence, explore possibilities, and develop a powerful personal brand. We leverage our relationships with employers, alumni, faculty and staff to facilitate meaningful experiences, mentoring connections and partnerships that position students for success in their careers and their communities.
