Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov (KBSU) is the largest university in Kabardino-Balkaria and one of the largest universities in the North Caucasus region. For achievements in the training of qualified specialists and the development of scientific research, Kabardino-Balkarian State University was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples in 1982. KBSU is one of the leading scientific, educational, informational, social, and cultural centers of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, annually graduates up to to 9000 specialists, in terms of equipment it occupies leading positions among other classical universities of Eastern Europe. KBSU degree is recognized by the WHO, UNESCO, PLAB (the UK), USMLE (the USA), MCI, PMDC, other International Organizations and throughout the world.

Nalchik is the capital city of the Kabardino-Balkar Republic, Russia. The word «Nalchik» literally means «small horseshoe» in Kabardian. Nalchik is a balneological and mountain climatotherapy resort, with several sanatoriums. It also serves as an industrial center of the republic. The city is home to various facilities of higher education. The city has 3 amusement parks, 6 artificial lakes, 4 aerial lift roads, mineral springs, a huge park (one of the largest in Europe), which transforms into a forest, a zoo, and a hippodrome. The picturesque mountains around are favorable for camping, in particular for hiking and mountaineering.
Kabardino-Balkarian State University managed to keep relations with traditional partner countries, such as Jordan, Turkey, Syria. Citizens of these countries are represented in the proportions of students studying at the university in the largest number of students from other countries. KBSU also managed to expand the contingent of students from such countries as India, Nigeria, Namibia, Ghana, Kenia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. International activity is one of the most important activities of the Kabardino-Balkarian State University.
On December 30, 1996, by the Decree of the President of the KBR, the university was given name after the first rector Khatuta Mutovich Berbekov. Modern Kabardino-Balkarian State University is not only one of the oldest universities of the North Caucasus, but also one of the leading classical scientific-educational centers of Russia.
Kabardino-Balkarian State University (KBSU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study.
Foreign students will be provided with all the living needs — modern new hostel within the campus. Rooms in the hostel are constructed for 2 or 3 people and equipped with separate kitchen, bathroom, balcony and all other necessities.
The KBSU Scientific Library is a modern information and cultural center of the university. Its fund includes is a huge base of resources, both on paper and electronic media.
The library provides information support of educational and research processes, introducing innovative methods of work, expanding library links, both inside the country and beyond it.
