Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H. M. Berbekov (KBSU) is the largest university in Kabardino-Balkaria and one of the largest universities in the North Caucasus region. On December 30, 1996, by the Decree of the President of the KBR, the university was given name after the first rector Khatuta Mutovich Berbekov.
