“Concrete Jungle Where Dreams Are Made…”
Although small, Brooklyn is the most highly populated borough in the city, giving it a bustling and energetic feeling, where you can find arts, science, and business communities all in close proximity, and often working together.
“There’s Nothing You Can’t Do”
To the northeast of the LIU Brooklyn campus lies Williamsburg, the area famous for the “hipster” movement. Here you will find coffee shops, nightlife and a wide range of places to eat. It even has its own market, Smorgasburg, open every weekend, where you can sample
local street food.
LIU Brooklyn is located just steps away from the Barclays Center; top arts venues like BAM; and the hip restaurants boutiques, and cafes of Fort Greene. And it’s only a short subway ride to the vast cultural offerings and professional opportunities of Manhattan.
Long Island University’s Brooklyn campus has deep historic roots that stretch back to 1926, when the New York Board of Regents granted LIU a provisional charter. The university founders were committed to admitting students based on merit and promise alone, never impeding their enrollment because of their sex, race, religion, or national origin. This was a unique and progressive philosophy during an age that was often defined by quotas and discrimination.
The university is committed to providing a high quality education through teaching excellence and impactful research opportunities. LIU offers over 275 undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degree programs, educating nearly 15,000 students each year across multiple campuses. The University cultivates academic, professional, artistic, and co-curricular opportunities.
LIU is committed to transformational change in the higher education landscape by the synergistic coupling of research and international engagement. The Research and International Office exists to catalyze, nurture and embrace multi-disciplinary, globally impactful research and educational programming that prepares future graduates for the challenges and opportunities presented by life in the 21st Century.
The LIU Brooklyn career services staff will
help you discover how to write a professional
résumé and cover letter. They also conduct

to prepare you for the real thing. Networking

connections to industry, and the online
career management system will help you
plan for your future.
The campus houses three residence halls, five on-campus dining locations, the Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts, and the Recreation and Athletic Center, which provides an 8-lane swimming pool, rooftop track, top-of-the-line workout facilities, and athletic fields. LIU Brooklyn students are a short 10-minute walk from the $1 billion Barclays Center, a multi-purpose arena that hosts professional music and sporting events, as well as student internships.
The three residential halls on campus provide a choice of standard, suite, and apartment spaces. All rooms include a twin-sized bed, desk, micro-fridge and air conditioner. You can also choose a meal plan to help save on food costs and make sure you’ve always got energy to focus on your studies.
Each residential hall also has:

· Recreation rooms
· TV lounges
· Laundry rooms
· 24/7 security
When it comes to housing, safety is our
number one priority. The campus is selfcontained, fully protected on all sides by

The library is a center of intellectual life for the LIU Brooklyn Campus. It offers students and faculty a welcoming environment for scholarship by providing technology, skilled faculty and staff, collections and services to support the university’s programs. In keeping with the Long Island.
Health and Wellness
The Steinberg Wellness Center (aka the “WRAC”) provides activities that promote good health and encourage wellness behaviors that improve the quality of life for members of the campus community and the community at large.
Our friendly campus is located close to the
iconic Brooklyn Bridge. Student residences, academic facilities and lecture theaters are housed in both traditional and modern buildings that are connected together by a series of enclosed bridges. Although the campus is located in an urban area, our gated campus offers beautifully landscaped areas in which to study, meet with friends or just relax.
Whether you decide to live on campus or commute, LIU Brooklyn is buzzing with activity. With more than 60 active student clubs, organizations, and athletic teams, including arts, culture, the environment, student government, health care, the media, sports, and recreation, it’s never been easier to get involved. Becoming a member of one—or several—of our exciting student clubs and organizations will immerse you in campus life and help you to cultivate long-lasting relationships.
