Tula SPU has become a leading institution of higher education among specialized universities. Our rich historical past, contemporary research activities, fast development and innovation let Tula State Lev Tolstoy Pedagogical University occupy a leading position in Russian education system.
I entered this university after high school and have never left the institution. I followed all the steps of the career ladder – starting from the position of a laboratory
assistant and being the rector at the moment. And thus, I can confirm: very talented and hard–working students studied here at all times, those who can be undoubtedly trusted with the future of the region and the country. The major goal of the university is teaching a person to think and discuss, to make decisions and bring one‘s ideas to life.
The world is constantly changing; thus, the system of higher education is changing as well: keeping the traditions of pedagogical education, the university is integrating in the education process of the whole world. Information and computer technologies not only give new opportunities, but also demand the development of new criteria for the university, which is being successfully recognized by the university.

Why Russia :
About Tula
Tula is a city and administrative center of Tula oblast located in the western part of Russia. It is located close to the Upa River which is a tributary of the Oka River. First mentioned in 1146 as Taydula, Tula became the main stronghold on the southern approaches to Moscow in the 16th century, as well as the center of a series of defensive lines against Tatar attacks. A stone citadel of 1530, restored in 1784 and 1824, has survived and is visited by tourists every year. In 1552, the city successfully resisted a siege by the Tatars. During the 17th century, Tula developed into the major ironworking centre of Russia. It was the site of Russia‘s first armament factory which was built in 1712 by Peter the Great, and it still remains a large armament producer. Besides iron and steel, modern Tula has a range of engineering industries. Lignite (brown coal) is mined locally and used in the chemical industry. Samovars are traditional products manufactured within Tula. The city has mechanical, mining and teacher–training institutes and is devoted to coal–mining research. A museum founded in 1724 displays a long history of different weapons. Yasnaya Polyana, the homeland of Leo Tolstoy, is located 9 miles (14 km) southwest of Tula.
