Community Impact
At University of Pacific, we believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are essential to the fulfillment of our institutional mission. Diversity is an indispensable component of academic excellence. It enriches the educational experience by allowing all of us to share knowledge, develop critical thinking skills, and understand new perspectives and ideas that are grounded in all of the ways we are different and unique.
University of the Pacific is California’s oldest university, founded July 10, 1851—less than a year after California received statehood. Established by pioneering Methodist ministers, it remains the only Methodist-affiliated university in California.
Since 1851, we’ve made the choice to look forward, create change and deliver education that puts our students first. We offer an experience that produces successful alumni who lead in their communities, in California and beyond.
Student-centered learning at Pacific means that you get individualized attention to unlock your academic confidence and the experience to find success. All you have to do is choose a place to start. Pacific offers over 80 undergraduate areas of study spanning ten schools and colleges. In addition, we also have a broad list of accelerated programs designed for very talented and dedicated high school students who know they want to pursue a graduate or professional degree.
Pacific students engage in research and scholarship throughout their university careers. Working alongside our faculty and staff, our students make significant contributions to research and innovation in their fields.
Across the university, we hold regular events celebrating the research of Pacific students, faculty and staff. Whether you want to get involved, learn about what our research teams are doing or network with other professionals, you’re sure to discover something that piques your interest.
Career Services is here to support you in developing and achieving career goals that lead to a meaningful life. We offer services like career advising, job and internship help, resume and cover letter writing help, and graduate school planning. Maybe you’re not sure what you want to major in or what you want to do in a future job — we can help you with that, too. Our career assessments can help you learn more about your interests, personality type, and which career options and majors might be best suited for you.
You can make an appointment on your first day at University of the Pacific. Our Tigers on Pace program is a four-year plan that allows you to pursue options and be prepared for graduation. However, you can jump in this plan at any point.
Most students think they have to wait a certain amount of time to be eligible for internships, jobs, or even job shadowing opportunities. We are here to dispel that myth and help you get connected to employers as soon as you are ready. Supporting you in achieving your version of success is our primary goal.
Even our alumni can receive free career services for life. As soon as you’re ready to start talking about your career, we are ready to support you in your journey.
Events we regularly host include:
With thriving communities that meet your needs, Pacific has the perfect residential living space for you. A variety of housing options means the opportunity for you to live comfortably with your peers. First-year students will live with other first-year students so that building a community and lifelong friendships is built into your experience. By living on campus, you’ll receive a tremendous amount of support from our entire staff, including our Resident Assistants, who are other students committed to helping you make the best of your Pacific experience. We want you to feel at home at Pacific, and we’ll do whatever we can to ensure that you do.
Pacific’s libraries offer a variety of study settings, including carrels, large tables, lounge areas, and group study rooms. A rapidly increasing number of digital library resources in all subjects are also available around the clock.
Student Health Services provides comprehensive healthcare to Pacific students on all three campuses. While many of our walk-in services are temporarily suspended, students can still reach us by calling 209.946.2315 option 1 or by visiting the medical portal to schedule a telehealth appointment with our Nurse Practitioners, Dietitian as well as our Insurance and Immunization experts.
Located across Northern California, our three campuses in Sacramento, San Francisco and Stockton connect students to some of the most diverse, dynamic and rapidly-growing centers for industry and innovation in the country. Visit us and see what the Pacific experience is all about.
The Student Activities Center (SAC), a unit within Campus Life, oversees Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) for the Stockton Campus. The SAC serves as a resource to RSOs, ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures. RSOs are categorized by type of organization (Academic & Honors, Religious & Service, Social Diversity & Inclusion, and Special Interest). Each student organization category is supported by an Involvement Consultant, a student staff employee of the SAC. The Student Activities Center can also assist RSOs with reserving rooms and spaces on campus for meetings and events.
For more information about the current clubs and organizations on campus, visit, and explore TigerLink. Here you will find all active RSOs, their contact information, and what they are about, and events happening around campus.
