Overview
VUAS is located in Ventspils city in northwestern Latvia, near the Baltic Sea. The well-maintained environment in Ventspils – recreation, sports, entertainment and cultural opportunities, the fresh sea air and peaceful daily life – inspire creative ideas and novel achievements.
History
VUAS was founded in 1997. In 2013 University acquired scientific institution status.
Education
VUAS offers studies in Associate, Bachelor and Master study programmes in English.
VUAS has three faculties:
- Faculty of Economics and Management;
- Faculty of Translation Studies;
- Faculty of Information Technology.
Research
Engineering Research Institute Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Centre (ERI VIRAC) of VUAS is a science education center specializing in the implementation of high-quality future research services in the field of space technology and signal processing.
ERI VIRAC of VUAS has been named one of the 15 best and internationally competitive scientific institutions in Latvia in the international science rating, organized by the Secretariat of the Nordic Council.
Career
Graduates of VUAS can work as professionals in leading companies in Ventspils or elsewhere in Latvia, to pursue a career in international companies, public administration or any other institution.

Housing services
Student dormitory – everything in one place!
Probably the best dormitory in Latvia. Significant renovation works completed in 2017. Dormitory is located in the same complex of buildings as the university. There is a saying among the people of the university – with slippers from home to lectures. There are more than 600 beds available and rent is only EUR 62 per month. The pride of the students is also the newly built modern student lounge – rather a complex, where it is possible to play a variety of board games, including pool table and ping-pong. Free Wi-fi, laundry room, double and single rooms, large parking lot, café in the same building and even more benefits for the comfort of students of VUAS.

Sports facilities
Ventspils is an athletic city, which is why students have many leisure opportunities – due to the support from the Olympic Centre “Ventspils”, students can swim, ice-skate, play volleyball, football, basketball and floorball for free.
The Student Council organises various adrenaline-filled sports tournaments, in which you will be able to compete with other sports enthusiasts.
